The “Fondo Jorge de Alba” project aims to develop animal science research activities focused on the study, conservation, management, and sustainable use of tropical creole breeds, with special emphasis on the Tropical Dairy Creole (CLT, acronym in Spanish) and the Romosinuano in Mexico.
The project obtained 100 semen doses per bull, reaching a total of 1,000 doses per breed and 2,000 high-quality doses in total.
Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature (FMCN, acronym in Spanish) and AMCROLET achieved significant milestones in the preservation and management of the CLT and Romosinuano breeds in Mexico. Notable among these is the strengthening of the semen bank and the conservation of the genetic diversity of these breeds, with their distribution across three strategic regions of the country (north, center, and south), ensuring their availability to producers nationwide. In addition, they developed a Genealogical Registration and Production Control System for AMCROLET’s Romosinuano and Tropical Dairy herds, facilitating herd management and promoting the sustainable management of livestock in Mexico. These hardy, pasture-adapted breeds contribute to the sustainability of the livestock sector in the country.
