FMCN fondly remembers the visionary Dr. Gómez-Pompa, who participated in the design of our institution and served as a member of the Board of Directors. His contributions to shaping a Mexican vision of the science of ecology, rescuing traditional knowledge, and building institutions dedicated to the conservation of natural resources are legacies that complement the formation of numerous current leaders who guide and advance environmental thought in a country rich in biodiversity and culture. His warmth, his ability to connect people and institutions, and his capacity to value and promote Mexico’s vast natural and human wealth advanced careers that left a lasting mark on tropical conservation. May his example guide current and future generations in addressing the great environmental challenges to save our nature and culture.
